Residents of Kandisi and Rimpa are celebrating the commencement of the second and final phase of the Kandisi–Rimpa road expansion, a project expected to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the area.

The three-kilometre stretch from the Ongata Rongai SGR Station to Rimpa is currently undergoing expansion as authorities work to improve the link between Maasai Lodge and the Rimpa–Magadi Road.

The project is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Ongata Rongai and neighbouring areas, including Twala, while improving access for thousands of commuters who rely on the route daily.

The road is among several projects being implemented under the Kajiado North 65-kilometre road construction programme launched by President William Samoei Ruto in 2023.

Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo said the takeover of the road construction programme by the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) has accelerated infrastructure development in the constituency

Ngogoyo said improved road infrastructure is critical to opening up Kajiado North and creating better conditions for residents, businesses and commuters.

The MP said several other roads across the constituency’s five civic wards have been identified for construction or completion as part of the wider road development programme.

The identified projects include the Acacia–Merisho Road, Fatima SGR Road, Manna Bible College–African Nazarene University Road and the Gataka–Tumaini Road.

The expansion of the Kandisi–Rimpa route is expected to improve the movement of people and goods while providing motorists with an alternative connection to key roads serving the area.

Residents are also expected to benefit from improved access to schools, businesses, residential areas and other essential services once the project is completed.

  1. I was Rongai resident sometime back, thank heavens for the change, too much dust in dry seasons made me prone to chest problems.
