Life Missions Tabernacle Youth Restore Hope Through Anti-Jigger Outreach in Grassland Village
New converts after receiving their new Bibles
GRASSLAND VILLAGE, Matisi, Trans Nzoia County – Forty-eight vulnerable residents, including children and elderly people, benefited from a humanitarian outreach organized by the youth of Life Missions Tabernacle Church, Moi’s Bridge, on under the leadership of Bishop Elijah Munyekenye.
The anti-jigger campaign saw volunteers remove jiggers from the affected residents before providing each beneficiary with a new pair of shoes to help prevent reinfestation and restore their dignity.
The medical outreach was complemented by a health education session led by a doctor, who educated residents on practical ways of preventing and eliminating jigger infestations.
“Ensure you change your clothes regularly and take a bath. Good personal hygiene is key to preventing jigger infestation and other infections,” the doctor advised.
Parents and caregivers were also encouraged to air beddings regularly and seek treatment immediately whenever signs of jigger infestation are noticed.
The outreach also had a spiritual dimension, with 12 residents giving their lives to Christ during an evangelistic mission. Eight of the new converts received Bibles.
“Make sure you cut your nails and keep them clean always. Also, do not sell the Bibles you have received. Read them and let the Word of God guide your lives,” Bishop Elijah Munyekenye urged.
Residents expressed gratitude.
“We are thankful that you helped us with jiggers, but next time kindly include the eradication of bedbugs,” one beneficiary appealed.
The outreach highlighted the vital role that faith-based organizations, healthcare professionals and community volunteers can play in improving public health while promoting compassion, dignity and spiritual well-being.
