Calls by broad based government to woo some of opposition members to gross the floor has been met with stiff resistance.

NAIROBI Wiper Patriotic Front leader Kalonzo Musyoka has rebuffed calls to join President William Ruto’s government, describing it as a “government of predators” and insisting that his name will be on the ballot come rain, come sun shine. The two will face off at the ballot in 2027.

The development comes amid simmering tension in the opposition with cracks emerging following heckling of Kalonzo Musyoka during Linda Mwanchi party launch on Thursday.

The long serving politician has attracted key players in the 2027 presidential polls.

Speaking on Sunday, November 1, 2026 during a church service at AIC Kyemutheke in Kyumvi, Machakos County, Kalonzo said he had seen headlines that government leaders were courting him after his heckling at the Linda Mwananchi launch. “My answer is no.

No, you don’t expect Kalonzo Musyoka to join a government of predators,” Kalonzo said.

“How can you expect someone who has declared his biggest opponent to be his political rival to join that person’s government? It is impossible,” he added.

He added: “No, thank you very much. Let us meet at the ballot. And I say this seriously. No, thank you very much.”

The Overture Kalonzo’s remarks came a day after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen and a section of ODM leaders urged him to join the broad-based government.

Murkomen, speaking on Saturday in Narok after Kalonzo was heckled at Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna’s Linda Mwananchi Movement launch on Friday, condemned the heckling as political intolerance and said Kalonzo’s experience would be respected in government.

“Linda Mwananchi has no agenda, no manifesto, and now even no respect for fellow leaders,” Murkomen had said.ODM leaders led by Minority Leader Junet Mohamed also wooed Kalonzo, describing the booing as disrespectful to a national elder

“Thank you, but no thank you.

I cannot join hands with predators. You have done so much damage to millions of Kenyans. Many Kenyans are suffering under this administration, what am I joining you to do?” he said.

Quoting Proverbs 29:2 – “when the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice, but when the wicked rule, the people mourn” – Kalonzo said Kenya would be restored under what he called the United Alternative Government in Waiting.

He pledged his administration would prioritize fighting corruption, ending abductions, and fixing the Mombasa highway.”I feel it in my heart.

I never started this journey on empty rhetoric,” he said, reaffirming his 2027 presidential bid.

Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua separately declared in Kiambu that “Kalonzo is not available” to Ruto, invoking the Kamba community’s history of political loyalty.

The Wiper leader’s firm rejection keeps him firmly in the opposition camp as realignments intensify ahead of August 2027.
