President William Ruto has today defended his administration’s record in the education sector, saying the government has taken key steps to stabilize universities and address teacher shortages
Speaking during a broad-based meeting in Naivasha, Ruto says the government has made difficult decisions to address challenges facing the education sector and ensure continued access to education.
The President highlights the implementation of the new university funding model, saying it is designed to prevent universities from sliding into financial crisis while ensuring students from different backgrounds remain in higher education.
“We have done what was required of us,” Ruto adds as he outlines what he described as key achievements of his administration in the education sector
The President says the reforms required difficult decisions, with his administration choosing to prioritize long-term national interests over short-term political popularity.
